About The Office! A Musical Parody

It's a typical morning at Scranton's third largest paper company until, for no logical reason, a documentary crew begins filming the lives of the employees of Dunder Mifflin… Don't miss this hilarious, unauthorized parody of the hit TV show, "The Office" now playing at The Jerry Orbach Theater in New York City.

"The world's most elaborate inside joke, created with a whole lot of love, just for fans." - Mashable

"The Office! A Musical Parody has made its claim as one of the most successful shows currently running Off-Broadway." - BroadwayWorld

Tell Me More

Long gone are the Dunder Mifflin days of television, since “The Office” concluded its celebrated nine-season run in 2013, but the sitcom lives on — in spirit — at Off-Broadway’s “The Office! A Musical Parody.” Cramming each of the seasons — and all of their many subplots — into a two-hour musical, the comic romp on the cult TV show celebrates Michael Scott’s questionable workplace humor, with Sarah Mackenzie Baron stepping into Steve Carrell’s big shoes as Michael Scott.

Written by Bob and Tobly McSmith — creators of similar projects that take a stab at fan favorites, such as “Friends! The Musical Parody,” “Bayside! The Saved by the Bell Musical,” and “Full House! The Musical” — the musical begins when a documentary TV crew enters Scranton’s third-largest paper company to film the employees’ day-to-day lives. Expect cracks at your favorite “Office” moments, musical nods to Broadway, and even references to the actors who brought the NBC sitcom to life, including Mindy Kaling, Kathy Bates, and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” herself, Ellie Kemper.

Venue requires children to be 4 years or older.

What to watch for

Almost every character from “The Office” has their moment to shine in the musical parody, including small parts like Stanley — who makes a quick cameo from the band.

“The Office! A Musical Parody” is a bit raunchier than the television show it’s based on. The musical is described as “more of an R-rated version of ‘The Office.’”

Bob and Tobly McSmith, who wrote the show, are not related or married. In fact, McSmith is not even their real last name, but they use it because “it reflects how much they feel like family.”

Bob and Tobly met about 15 years ago, when they moved into a Park Slope apartment on the same day.

Their other musicals include “Showgirls! The Musical!,” “90210! The Musical!,” and “Katdashians! Break the Musical!”
