King Henry VIII was a Tudor monarch, ruling over England for nearly 40 years. During his time on the throne, he broke away from the Church of England, and very famously, had six wives. While history lessons have taught us all about Henry VIII, what do you know of the wives? Six tickets will get you into Broadway’s coolest history lesson.
The famous rhyme tells us their fate: “Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived”, but is that all? Six is a histo-remix for the ages, revealing the truth behind their relationships and that inevitable quest for a male heir. Pitting themselves against one another, each wife takes to the mic to see who had it worse. In the end, they realise that constant arguing and pettiness isn’t needed — girl power is stronger than any king.
With a female-only cast and band, Six on Broadway puts female power and girl bosses on the map. Summing up 500 years of history into 70 minutes of theatre, the Six queens fix each others crowns while changing your view on Tudor history. Now, the five-time Olivier-nominated Six continues its reign on Broadway, opening at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
